Sources: Derby County, Birmingham City and Rotherham join race to sign Jordan Hugill
Derby County, Birmingham City and Rotherham have joined Reading in the hunt to sign Norwich City striker Jordan Hugill, sources have told Football Insider.
The former West Ham man, 30, is well down the pecking order at the Canaries and they are open to January offers as he is out of contract in the summer.
Reading have submitted an offer for Hugill this month, but now they face competition from Championship rivals Birmingham and Rotherham as well as League One promotion hopefuls Derby.
New Canaries boss David Wagner is keen to offload some fringe players to make room for any potential new arrivals at Carrow Road.
Hugill was not even in the matchday squad for Saturday’s win at Preston.
The striker has played just 61 minutes of Championship football this season and made his first appearance since November during the FA Cup loss against Blackburn on 8 January.

The former West Ham and QPR ace has entered the final six months of his contract at Carrow Road.
Despite his limited involvement this season, Hugill is a proven operator at Championship level – having scored 51 goals and notched nine assists in 252 second-tier outings.
Last season, he registered five goals and two assists in separate loan spells at West Brom and Cardiff.
Birmingham, Reading, and Rotherham are looking to draft in extra firepower in order to pull clear of the relegation zone in the second half of this season.
Meanwhile, Derby are fourth in League One and are seeking an immediate return to the Championship – despite being 11 points adrift of the automatic promotion places.
