West Ham are willing to sell Celtic target Albian Ajeti for a knockdown £5m this summer, Football Insider has been told.

The striker, 23, has failed to make an impact for the Hammers since signing for £8.5m including add-ons from Basel last August.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider how Ajeti does not figure in David Moyes' plans for next season and the club are set to explore various exit avenues.

He could leave either permanently or on a season-long loan.

West Ham do not expect to be able to recoup the full cost paid for him last summer, in the wake of his poor debut campaign reduced transfer fees following the pandemic.

Celtic have initial talks with the Premier League club over a deal after trying to sign him last year.

The Scottish champions are in the market for a new centre-forward amid major doubts over Leigh Griffiths' future following pre-season disciplinary and fitness issues.

Like his predecessor Manuel Pellegrini, Moyes has barely used 10-times Switzerland international Ajeti despite record signing Sebastien Haller's mixed campaign.

Michail Antonio has instead thrived in the spearhead role after initially being an emergency option.

Ajeti has not started a single Premier League match all season and most of his 12 West Ham appearances have come as a substitute.

He has yet to open his scoring account for the Londoners, or register his first assist.
