Sources: Everton and Bournemouth eye Viktor Gyokeres deal after price tag slashed by £10m

Everton and Bournemouth are keeping tabs on Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres, sources have told Football Insider.

Both Premier League clubs are keen on the 24-year-old striker’s situation in the Championship, with the Sweden international likely to be available for between £10-12million in the summer.

Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (24 February) that Leeds United have “big” interest in signing Gyokeres and will attempt to sign him regardless of relegation.

Everton were interested in Gyokeres over the January deadline but were unable to complete the move after Coventry demanded a fee in excess of £20million for the forward.

Bournemouth have also been on the lookout for a striker and are considered huge admirers of Gyokeres.

Gyokeres’ current contract with Coventry expires in 2024 and the Championship side are concerned about losing their star forward on a free transfer.

He has scored 16 goals in 34 games for Coventry this season, and only trails Middlesborough’s Chuba Akpom in the league scoring charts.

Gyokeres is on track to beat his scoring record from last season when he netted 18 times in 47 appearances across all competitions.

After starting his career at Swedish club IF Brommapojkarna, Gyokeres caught the eye of Premier League scouts by scoring 22 times in 63 appearances.

Brighton signed him in 2018 and handed him appearances in the EFL Cup and FA Cup before loaning him out to German club FC St. Pauli, Swansea City and then Coventry City in January 2021.

Gyokeres impressed the Sky Blues during his six-month stint at the club, and manager Mark Robins decided to make his move permanent with a three-year contract.
