Sources: Everton could offer Yerry Mina surprise new deal
Centre-back Yerry Mina could land a surprise new Everton contract, sources have told Football Insider.
The Colombia international, 28, is out of contract next month and has been plagued by injuries throughout his time at Goodison Park.
But it is believed that Everton boss Sean Dyche is a fan of Mina and was immensely impressed by his display in Monday’s (8 May) shock 5-1 thrashing of Brighton.
The vital win marked the defender’s first appearance under Dyche and just his fourth Premier League outing in the 2022-23 campaign.
Should Mina stay fit and continue to shine between now and the end of the season, he could yet be offered a surprise extension.
It remains to be seen whether the former Barcelona ace would have to cut his wages – as he is one of the club’s top earners on a deal worth around £120,000-a-week.

Mina’s injury problems have prevented him from becoming a key figure in his time at Goodison Park since joining the club in 2018.
He has recorded just 96 appearances for Everton in five years at the club.
The defender was forced off with an ankle injury in the opening game of this season against Chelsea – an injury which kept him out of action until November.
Mina has largely occupied a place on the bench since but was thrown into the Everton starting lineup for the first time since January against Brighton.
Everton also have a decision to make on the future of on-loan centre-back Conor Coady, who can reportedly be signed permanently for just £4.5million.
The Toffees sit 17th in the Premier League, two points outside the relegation zone with games against Man City, Wolves and Bournemouth to play.
