Sources: Everton in advanced talks to sign Ajax star Mohammed Kudus

Everton are in advanced talks to sign Ajax attacker Mohammed Kudus, sources have told Football Insider.

The Merseysiders are close to a breakthrough in their pursuit of the 22-year-old following negotiations on Friday.

Everton are in the market for attacking reinforcements having lost Richarlison to Tottenham and while Chelsea try to sign Anthony Gordon.

Kudus is rated as a top talent at Ajax but has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the starting XI.

The Ghana international has started Ajax’s opening two games this season on the bench and they have indicated they are willing to let him go ahead of the 31 August transfer cut-off.

Kudus joined Ajax in the summer of 2020 and has now made 45 total appearances for the club.

The attcker is a full Ghana international having made 16 appearances for his country.

Five goals have also come during his international career.

Everton remain winless in the 2022-23 Premier League and have only scored one goal this season, courtesy of Lucas Digne putting through his own net during their game with Aston Villa on Saturday (13 August).

Football Insider reported earlier this week (16 August) that Chelsea were readying a new £50million bid for Gordon after an submitting an initial £40million offer.

A source updated this site on Thursday (18 August) to reveal they have offered midfielder Billy Gilmour and striker Michy Batshuayi plus cash in exchange for Gordon.
