Sources: Everton offer lucrative contract to win left footer race

Everton are have submitted a lucrative contract offer to Gabriel Magalhaes in a bid to win the race for his signature, Football Insider understands.

The Merseysiders are fighting team in England and Italy for the Lille 22-year-old as they look to reach an agreement ahead of the summer window.

An Everton source has told Football Insider that the club are aiming to lure Magalhaes with a five-year contract would hand him a massive pay rise.

The Premier League big spenders have already tabled a £30million bid for the 6ft 3in colossus that the French club have indicated will be accepted.

But the left-footed centre-back has not yet made up his mind which of his suitors to join.

The terms of his transfer are likely to be rubber-stamped well ahead of the summer window opening, regardless of when that will actually be.

There have been widespread reports the main transfer window could be delayed this year due to the impact of the coronavirus outbreak.

Nevertheless, Magalhaes is set to depart Ligue 1 three years after signing from Brazilian club Avai for £1.5m.

He has thrive at Lille under manager Christophe Galtier, whose side were fourth in the French top flight before the season was suspended.

Magalhaes has made 52 appearances for Lille, 34 of which have come this season.

He has taken his game to a new level in the current campaign after previous spells on loan at Troyes and Dinamo Zagreb.
