Everton are plotting a raid for Man United talent spotter Lyndon Tomlinson, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The big-spending Merseysiders want United’s assistant head of academy recruitment to take on a senior role at their club.

An Everton source has told Football Insider that the club are readying a move for Tomlinson in the coming weeks.

He is highly regarded in scouting circles after joining United from Man City in 2017.

Arsenal have previously been linked with trying to lure Tomlinson from the 20-times champions.

Tomlinson currently works under David Harrison, who is the head of academy recruitment at the Red Devils.

The pair are responsible for bringing exciting young players into Man United's youth set up, with Joe Hugill, 17, a notable recent success of their's.

Hugill was signed from Sunderland's academy in July 2020 and excelled in United's Under-23s and 18s last season.

The club confirmed last week that the striker has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract at Old Trafford after training with the first team in pre-season.

Everton will be hoping Tomlinson can bring similar success to Goodison Park if a move materialises.

The Toffees have spent moderately in this summer's transfer window so far.

Demarai Gray, Andros Townsend and Asmir Begovic have arrived for a combined fee in the region of £1.6million.

Further new faces are expected through the door before the window shuts as Rafael Benitez looks to make his stamp on the squad.
