Matteo Guendouzi is not expected to play for Arsenal again as the club prepare to offload him for £25million this summer, Football Insider can reveal.

The 21-year-old is on a season-long loan at Hertha Berlin after plummeting down the pecking order at his parent club.

An Arsenal source has told Football Insider that Mikel Arteta has made it clear Guendouzi is not part of his plans for next season.

That is regardless of how he performs at Bundesliga outfit Hertha, where he has been a mainstay of their starting XI.

Arsenal set a £30m price tag on Guendouzi last summer after he was frozen out of their team following a fall-out with Arteta.

That price has now been slashed to £25m.

It could conceivably tumble even further in the summer, when the fiery Frenchman enters the final 12 months of his contract.

But Arsenal are confident they will find a buyer at close to their asking price.

Villarreal offered abled a £30million loan-to-buy offer last summer but a deal eventually collapsed.

Arteta and senior Arsenal figures left fuming with Guendouzi after he was embroiled in a scuffle with Neal Maupay following their 2-1 defeat to Brighton last June.

Guendouzi has made 82 appearances for the Premier League giants, including 34 in 2019-20.

At Herta, he has made 14 Bundesliga starts among 18 appearances in the competition after being unavailable at the start of the campaign.
