Pape Matar Sarr has landed a significant pay hike after agreeing to a new Tottenham contract, sources have told Football Insider.

Spurs confirmed this month that the midfielder has penned a new deal in north London to keep him at the club until the summer of 2030.

It is believed that the 21-year-old has more than doubled his wages after hitting performance-related clauses in his contract.

Sources have told Football Insider that the increase to his salary is "huge" and it has lifted him into one of the senior players' pay brackets at the club.

Despite being little more than a squad player in his debut season, he has emerged as a vital star since Ange Postecoglou's arrival in the summer.

He has started 16 Premier League games this season and scored goals against Man United and Bournemouth.

In the 3-1 clash against the Cherries on New Year's Day, he picked up a hamstring injury that put his participation in the African Cup of Nations in doubt.

However, he was cleared to link up with the Senegal squad for the competition that commences in Ivory Coast on 13 January.

Sources have also told Football Insider (1 January) that Spurs and Liverpool are monitoring red-hot Wolves star Hwang Hee-chan and are assessing the 27-year-old with a summer in the cards.

Tottenham sit fifth in the Premier League table, just one point behind fourth-place Arsenal, and next welcome Burnley in the FA Cup on Friday (5 January).
