Sources close to the 32-year-old have revealed that he is ready for a new challenge and is excited at the prospect of playing abroad again after seven years in England.

It is believed that a potential move to Camp Nou is a long-term "dream" for Gundogan.

The Catalan giants have already held talks with Gundogan’s representatives about a free transfer with his contract at City set to expire in June.

The Premier League champions want to keep the former Borussia Dortmund star at the club past this summer.

Gundogan has made 31 starts this season amid 37 appearances in total in the 2022-23 campaign, notching four goals and four assists.

He has also worn the captain's armband for Guardiola's side on several occasions this term.

Gundogan has racked up 290 appearances for Man City – scoring 53 goals and winning four Premier League titles.

Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham and Bayer Leverkusen youngster Florian Wirtz have been shortlisted by the mega-rich club ahead of the summer window.

For now, Gundogan will continue to play a key role for Man City as he looks to win his fifth Premier League title.

They must make up an eight-point deficit to leaders Arsenal – and are also vying for a first-ever Champions League trophy.
