Jack Butland is undergoing a Rangers medical on Monday, sources have told Football Insider.

The goalkeeper, 30, has agreed terms with the Glasgow giants and is set to join on a free transfer.

Rangers have made their move after Crystal Palace decided against triggering the one-year deal option in his contract.

Rangers have been trailing Butland for over a year after initially considering him for last summer.

But Allan McGregor opted to remain one more year and Rangers cooled their interest.

Now a deal has been resurrected, and the proven Premier League star is set to become the club's third summer signing following Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling.

The Light Blues have now confirmed long-serving keeper McGregor has departed the club following the expiry of his contract and at 41 years old is set to hang up his gloves for good.

Light Blues boss Michael Beale already has back up goalkeeping options to call upon in Jon McLaughlin and Robby McCrorie.

McLaughlin was used heavily towards the start of the season by previous boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst but steadily fell down the pecking order and was replaced by McGregor for the remainder of the campaign.

McCrorie, 25, came into the fold towards the back end of the 2022-23 season after Celtic had already claimed the Scottish Premiership title.

The shot-stopper's current contract runs until 2025 whilst McLaughlin is entering the final year of his current deal.
