Sources: Jordan Rhodes response to Celtic reported pursuit revealed
Jordan Rhodes is set to rebuff reported January interest from Celtic to remain at Sheffield Wednesday for the rest of the season, Football Insider has learned.
The Scottish Sun claimed yesterday that the Scottish giants will try and sign the striker, 29, on loan for the rest of the season as back-up to Odsonne Edouard.
A Wednesday source has told Football Insider that Rhodes is going “nowhere” in the upcoming transfer window and he will remain at Hillsborough until at least the end of the season.
That would mean Celtic will have to look elsewhere for a new forward amid serious doubts about the club’s alternative options up front.
Neil Lennon was forced to convert Lewis Morgan from a winger to central striker during Edouard’s recent injury absence, with more orthodox spearheads Leigh Griffiths and Vakoun Issouf Bayo both struggling for fitness.
Celtic are in the market for a new striker next month that it appears that Rhodes will be staying put.

That would be a blow given the 14-times Scotland international’s pedigree and goalscoring record.
He has been prolific at Championship and League One level in English football, with 108 goals from 282 matches in the second tier and 70 goals from 122 appearances in the third tier.
Rhodes has struggled for game time at Wednesday this season, but has started to find form in recent weeks.
He has started the Championship club’s last three league matches and scored a hat-trick against Nottingham Forest last week.
