Sources: Keylor Navas set for Nottingham Forest medical after talks breakthrough

Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Keylor Navas, sources have told Football Insider.

The Costa Rica international is set to undergo a Forest medical in the next 24 hours ahead of completing the move.

Forest are confident of reaching a full agreement with PSG following a breakthrough in talks on Sunday.

Navas will join both Dean Henderson and Wayne Hennessey in the battle for the No.1 spot at the City Ground.

The 36-year-old brings plenty of experience and silverware with him to Forest, having won three Champions League titles and three league titles during his time at Real Madrid and PSG.

Navas started his career at Costa Rican club Saprissa, before moving to Spain to join Albacete in 2010.

A permanent move to Levante followed in 2012 and after two years as a regular starter, Real Madrid triggered his £9million release clause to bring him to the Bernabeu.

Navas spent five years in the Spanish capital, initially playing second fiddle to club legend Iker Casillas.

However, Navas eventually earned his chance as the starting goalkeeper and went on to make over 100 La Liga appearances for the club.

The arrival of Thibaut Courtois in the 2018/19 season put Navas’ starting spot in doubt, and he ended up leaving to join PSG on a four-year contract in September 2019.

He’s made 71 Ligue Un appearances for the French giants and participated in two league-winning campaigns in 2019/20 and 2021/22.

However, Navas was pushed down the pecking order in Paris after the signing of Gianluigi Donnarumma – he has made just two appearances in the 2022/23 season.
