Leeds United are braced for a six-figure bid for Oliver Casey from Blackpool, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
This site revealed yesterday (8 June) that the Premier League club are in talks to sell the 20-year-old to the newly-promoted Championship outfit.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Blackpool are set to submit an offer of below £1million for the versatile defender, who can also play in midfield.
Marcelo Bielsa has given the green light for Casey to find a new club in the next transfer window even though he signed a new three-year contract last summer.
The Leeds boss does not see a pathway into the first team for the centre-half with Liam Cooper, Diego Llorente, Robin Koch and Pascal Struijk already at the club.
Casey was linked with a loan move away from Elland Road in January but a temporary exit failed to materialise.
He has made a total of three first team appearances for the Whites, with his most recent runout in the shock 3-0 loss at Crawley Town in the FA Cup earlier this year.
However, none of those appearances came in the Premier League despite the academy product being named on the subs bench nine times last season.
Blackpool boss Neil Critchley hopes to secure Casey’s services as he looks to bolster his defence ahead of the 2021-22 Championship campaign.
The Seasiders secured promotion with victory in the League One play-off final against Lincoln City last month.
