Sources: Leeds offered Arsenal striker Nketiah as fee revealed
Leeds United have been offered the chance to re-sign Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah this summer, Football Insider understands.
The Yorkshire giants are in the market for a new centre-forward who can provide cover and competition for Patrick Bamford.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider Arsenal are willing to listen to offers for Nketiah, 22, as they look to raise funds for a summer rebuild.
It is understood manager Mikel Arteta has given the green light for the striker to leave if the club’s asking price is met.
Arsenal want £20million for their academy product, who is out of contract in the summer of 2022.
Nketiah spent half a season on loan at Leeds in 2019/20 but struggled for game time with Bamford the first choice spearhead.
It remains to be seen if Marcelo Bielsa is willing to take Nketiah on for a second time.
The England under-21 international scored five times in 19 appearances for the Whites.
However, he managed to make just two league starts before his temporary spell was cut short.
He has since established himself as a regular among the first-team squad at Arsenal.
Nketiah made 30 appearances across all competitions during the 2020/21 campaign, 17 of which came in the Premier League.
He started all six of the Gunners’ Europa League group stage games, scoring three times.
However, with a year left on his contract, Arsenal are willing to cash in if the price is right.
He has made 65 senior appearances since breaking through the Gunners’ youth ranks, with 13 goals under his belt.
In other news, Leeds United have submitted a new and improved contract offer for senior star.
