Sources: Leeds United chase RB Salzburg star Noah Okafor

Leeds United are keeping tabs on RB Salzburg striker Noah Okafor, sources have told Football Insider.

The Switzerland international, 22, is the latest player from the Red Bull stable to be on United’s radar as they look ahead to the summer window.

Leeds have yet to make definitive decisions on summer transfer targets with their Premier League status up in the air going into the final two months of the campaign.

But Okafor is one centre-forward who is being regularly watched by their scouts and interest will increase if they can escape from relegation.

That possibility has increased since the appointment as manager of Javi Gracia, who has overseen a turnaround since taking over last month.

United climbed to 14th following Saturday’s thrilling win over Wolves and are now two points clear of the bottom three after taking seven points out of 12 under the Spaniard.

Okafor is contracted to Salzburg until the summer of 2024 and they could cash in on him this summer.

He has just changed agents and is keen to join a new club in the upcoming window, with a move to a Premier League club a top priority for him.

Okafor has scored 10 goals and supplied five assists in 30 matches in all competitions for Salzburg this season, with three of his goals coming the Champions League group stages – against Chelsea, AC Milan and Dinamo Zagreb.

Leeds signed USA forward Brenden Aaronson and Denmark defender Rasmus Kristensen from the Austrian club last summer.

They then followed up with their third acquisition from the Austrian club in the January window with the capture of centre-back Max Wober for around £11million.

Leeds’ interest in stars from the Red Bull stable has not ended with the dismissal of Jesse Marsch as their manager last month.

The American spent two years in charge at Salzburg until 2021.
