Sources: Leeds United in Ben Brereton Diaz transfer mission
Leeds United scouts watched Ben Brereton Diaz in action for Blackburn Rovers on Saturday (9 July), sources have told Football Insider.
Talent spotters from the Premier League club were in attendance for Rovers’ pre-season friendly clash against Accrington Stanley.
Leeds have held a long-term interest in Brereton Diaz, 23, and they cast an eye over the Chile international as he played an hour of the match.
Blackburn are facing a battle to keep hold of Brereton Diaz this summer with a number of Premier League and Spanish La Liga sides weighing up moves for him.
Leeds are in the market for a forward to provide cover and competition and believe the Rovers star fits the bill.
He is out of contract in the summer of 2023 and that means Blackburn are vulnerable to bids.

In the previous summer (2021) he emerged as a key player for Chile in their Copa America campaign after switching allegiances to the country of his mother’s birth.
Leeds have already been one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the transfer window.
Luis Sinisterra became their sixth signing of the summer last week (7 July) when he complete his reported £21million move from Feyenoord.
Jesse Marsch had already Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, Darko Gyabi and Tyler Adams to the squad that narrowly avoided relegation in 2021-22.
They will want to bolster their attacking ranks after Patrick Bamford missed the majority of the 2021-22 season with various injuries.
Raphinha ended the campaign as the club’s top scorer with 11 goals and he looks set to quit Elland Road this summer.
