Leeds United have been priced out of a move for PSV Eindhoven sensation Noni Madueke this summer, Football Insider has learned.

The England Under-21 international has caught the eye of United talent spotters with some electrifying displays this season for the Dutch Eredivisie side.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider the club have made contact with PSV to ask how much it will take to prise Madueke away this summer.

But the Yorkshire giants have been put off after being told it will take between £20-25million to seal a deal for the 19-year-old.

That is far more than Leeds are willing to spend this summer and they have decided to pull the plug on their pursuit.

Marcelo Bielsa's side can't afford to pay such a sum for Madueke in the next window.

Leeds are expected to be active in the summer but do not have a bottomless pit of cash.

Their latest set of accounts, posted last weekend, revealed they made a whopping pre-tax loss of £62.4m for the year ending July 2020.

They have since returned to the Premier League and benefited from the vast broadcasting windfalls but must still spend within their means.

Madueke has been linked with a number of leading clubs, including Bayern Munich as well as Crystal Palace.

The former Tottenham youngster joined PSV in 2018 and has made a huge impact since being promoted to their senior side.

He has made 28 appearances this term, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists from various attacking positions.
