Leeds planning legal action against Nottingham Forest in shock new financial twist

Senior figures at Leeds United are ready to demand compensation if Forest are found guilty of breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules, sources have told Football Insider.

Forest have been charged with breaching financial rules by allegedly exceeding their allowable losses over a three-year period.

As per the Premier League’s new fast-track rules, Forest are set to hear the verdict of their case before the end of the 2023-24 season.

As reported by iNews, Simon Leaf - head of sport at Mishcon de Reya LLP - stated that ‘the floodgates will open’ for legal claims if Forest’s charges are upheld.

It is understood that Leeds are one of several clubs who would consider taking legal action against Forest to claim financial compensation.

The Yorkshire club - alongside Burnley and Leicester City - publicly stated their intent to sue Everton for £100million each after they were found guilty of breaching PSR back in November.

Leeds suffered relegation to the Championship in the 2022-23 season - the same campaign that Forest and Everton allegedly broke spending rules.

The Whites finished in 19th place while Everton and Forest narrowly survived in 17th and 16th respectively.
