Sources: Leeds United star Tyler Roberts undergoes QPR medical

Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts is undergoing a medical at Queens Park Rangers, Football Insider understands.

The London club have agreed a loan deal for Roberts with a view to a permanent move next season.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider there is a full agreement in place and the attacking midfielder has been given the green light to have a medical on Wednesday (6 July).

United have made Roberts available following a string of new signings that is set to continue in the coming days.

The Wales international was valued by the club at £10million last year but is now worth less than half that.

Football Insider reported last summer (15 May 2021) that Newcastle United were monitoring the 23-year-old.

He eventually signed a new three-year contract with the Yorkshire giants under Marcelo Bielsa.

Jesse Marsch then replaced Bielsa during the 2021-22 campaign and Roberts suffered a serious hamstring injury in his first game in charge – a 1-0 loss to Leicester City at the beginning of March.

That proved to be his final appearance of the season as Leeds narrowly avoided relegation but he did make the bench for the 2-1 win over Brentford on the final day (22 May).

He now looks set to end his Leeds career with nine goals and 10 assists in 108 appearances across all competitions, including two goals in 50 Premier League games.

QPR are in the market for forward reinforcements after last season’s top goalscorer Andre Gray signed for Greek side Aris Thessaloniki and Charlie Austin moved to A-League Men club Brisbane Roar.

New manager Michael Beale has already added defenders Jake Clarke-Salter and Kenneth Paal to his squad this summer.

In other news, Leeds United are in pole position to sign a striker after a late-night twist.
