Sources: Leeds United want £40m for Illan Meslier amid quit claim
Leeds United have placed a £40million price tag on goalkeeper Illan Meslier ahead of the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The Yorkshire club are in the midst of a relegation battle, and the 23-year-old shot-stopper is set to leave Elland Road if Leeds are demoted to the Championship.
Football Insider sources revealed last month (11 March) that Robin Koch, Illan Meslier and Jack Harrison are all set to leave Leeds if they suffer relegation this season.
However, Leeds are under no pressure to sell Meslier this summer after he signed a five-year deal with the club in 2021.
The Whites understand that Meslier will want to secure a move away if relegated, but they are prepared to stand firm with their £40million asking price.
Chelsea, Man United and Tottenham have all shown interest in signing Meslier this summer.
The Leeds No.1 became the youngest goalkeeper to reach 100 Premier League appearances earlier this season, and he also ranks sixth in the league for saves made in 2022/23.
Leeds view Meslier as a player with extremely high potential and a future starter for France, and so they are determined not to lose him for less than their £40million valuation.
He has been everpresent for Leeds in the Premier League this season, appearing in all of their 30 league fixtures and keeping five clean sheets in the process.
Meslier initially joined Leeds on loan from Lorient in 2019/20 and forced his way into the side ahead of Kiko Casilla.
He joined permanently following Leeds’ promotion to the Premier League and has remained their first-choice goalkeeper since.
