FA Cup winners Leicester City are plotting a summer raid for Tottenham sensation Elliot Thorpe, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The versatile midfielder, 20, has been in outstanding form recently for the Spurs Under-23s side and scored twice in a 5-2 win over Liverpool on 23 April.

A Leicester source has told Football Insider the club are keeping close tabs on Thorpe ahead of his contract expiring at the north Londoners.

The youngster's current deal is due to end next month and he has not agreed an extension.

Thorpe was training with the first team when Jose Mourinho but he now looks set to depart Tottenham this summer.

The rising star has suitors at home and abroad, with Leicester facing competition for his services.

Thorpe has yet to make his senior Spurs bow but has been capped by Wales at Under-19 level and accumulated extensive age-group experience.

He spent two seasons with the Tottenham Under-18s, where he made 13 appearances, before graduating to the Under-23s.

It is here where he has caught the eye of rival clubs and he has been especially effective in recent months.

Thorpe's talent is well known to interim Spurs manager Ryan Mason, who had been coaching the youth team before his promotion after Mourinho's exit.

It would be a blow to lose such a highly rated youngster, especially at a time when the Londoners face so much off the field speculation over the future of talismanic goal king Harry Kane.
