Sources: Leicester star Youri Tielemans tells friends he wants to join Arsenal

Leicester City star Youri Tielemans favours a move to Arsenal over Man United this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Arsenal and United are both interested in signing the 25-year-old as they look to recruit a top-class central midfielder in the current window.

Tielemans’ future is up in the air as he has entered the final 12 months of his Leicester deal and has snubbed attempts to extend it.

The Belgium international is understood to be holding out for a transfer to Arsenal and wants a deal to be agreed soon.

Brendan Rodgers has admitted Tielemans’ situation has not changed but hailed him as “amazing to work with” upon his return to pre-season training.

He played the final 30 minutes of the Foxes’ pre-season game with OH Leuven on Sunday (17 July) as they stepped up their efforts ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Tielemans has been a key player for Rodgers’ side ever since his move from Monaco in the summer of 2019.

He scored the winning goal in the 2021 FA Cup final victory over Chelsea.

Leicester may be reluctant to agree a deal this summer as they are the only Premier League club not to make a signing this summer.

Arsenal have already bolstered their midfield with the arrival of Fabio Vieira from Porto.

Mikel Arteta has also added Gabriel Jesus, Marquinhos and Matt Turner to the squad that narrowly missed out on a top-four finish in 2021-22.
