Lincoln are in talks over a beat-the-deadline loan move for Swansea City forward Morgan Whittaker, Football Insider understands.

The Swans are willing to let the 20-year-old leave temporarily and numerous clubs have registered their interest.

A Lincoln source has told Football Insider the League One club are determined to bring in Whittaker before tonight's deadline with talks underway.

Whittaker has actually been a regular among the Swansea first-team this season.

However, manager Russell Martin is open to letting him leave in pursuit of regular first-team football.

His availability has drawn attention from across the English Football League.

Lincoln boss Michael Appleton has identified the promising attacker as a talent who would bolster his side this season.

The Imps have scored just four goals in their opening five league games.

Whittaker is able to play on the right-wing, as an attacking midfielder or even as a centre-forward.

He has been in the matchday squad for all five of Swansea's Championship matches, featuring three times as a substitute.

The youngster also started both of the Swans' League Cup games against Reading and Plymouth.

He scored a hat-trick against Argyle to help Martin's men seal a 4-1 win and qualification for the third round.

Whittaker joined Swansea from Derby County back in February this year.

So far, he has played 18 times and scored five goals for the Welsh outfit.

The young forward has also turned out at every level for England's youth sides between under-16 and under-20.

He has a total of 40 Championship appearances under his belt from his time with Derby and Swansea.
