Liverpool have made an enquiry for Wolves forward Adama Traore, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Premier League giants are eyeing the 25-year-old wide forward as they look to increase their attacking options this summer.

A Liverpool source has told Football Insider that the club have made made contact with Wolves to register their interest in Traore.

Manager Jurgen Klopp wants a versatile forward who can play on both flanks and down the middle and is capable on carrying the ball long distances.

Liverpool had an interest in Traore last year but did not make a move and ended up signing his teammate Diogo Jota instead.

The Portugese had an impressive debut season at Anfield and, surprisingly, Klopp is keen to add his old Molineux ally to the ranks following his poor 2020-21 campaign.

The Spain international has entered the final two years of his contract and that has placed his club in a difficult situation.

He was close to agreeing a new deal including a pay hike last October but negotiations reached a stalemate over money.

Traore struggled to make a big impact last season after the best campaign of his career in 2019-20, when his 54 matches in all competitions yielded six goals and 12 assists.

By contrast, his 42 games last term brought just three goals and three assists.

Traore first moved to England in January 2015, when he joined Aston Villa from Barcelona.

He subsequently joined Middlesbrough in the summer of 2016 and spent two years there before his move to Wolves.
