Liverpool are plotting a move for PSV Eindhoven ace Johan Bakayoko in case they lose Mohamed Salah, sources have told Football Insider.

Egyptian superstar Salah has emerged as the latest big name to be targeted by clubs in Saudi Arabia and Liverpool are drawing up contingency plans to find potential replacements.

Belgian ace Bakayoko is firmly on their radar after catching the eye for club and country in the last 12 months.

Bakayoko, 20, plays in the same role as Salah (a right-sided inverted winger) and is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in Europe.

The winger scored nine goals and provided six assists in 39 appearances for PSV last term and has impressed early again this season with two assists in their recent Champions League qualifying win over Sturm Graz.

The likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli have been linked with Bakayoko - and now Liverpool have also placed the attacker on their list of targets as they look to plan for the possibility of Salah leaving Anfield in the future.

Salah's agent, Ramy Abass, recently took to Twitter (7 August) to confirm the winger's "commitment" to the Merseysiders.

The Anfield icon, now 31, is under contract until June 2025.

Bakayoko could prove the Egypt international's successor at Liverpool as he continues his development in the Eredivisie.

The 20-year-old made his senior Belgium debut in March and scored his first goal on his fourth appearance - a qualifier win over Estonia on 20 June.

Liverpool

Bakayoko, who came through the youth ranks at Leuven, Club Brugge and Anderlecht, is under contract at PSV until June 2026.

He scored 20 goals across 55 games in the Dutch club's youth ranks before making his senior breakthrough last term.
