Sources: Liverpool plan to accept Joel Matip offer
Liverpool are expected to offload at least one of their four senior centre-backs this summer with Joel Matip the likeliest to go, sources have told Football Insider.
The Merseysiders are planning to let clubs know that the cult hero, who turns 32 in August, will be available for sale in the upcoming window.
A bid of between £10-15million could be enough to convince Liverpool to cash in on Matip, who has a history of niggling injuries.
The former Cameroon international is out of contract in the summer of 2024 and the next window represents the last chance to secure a significant fee for him.
Matip is no longer a first choice in Jurgen Klopp’s side after a fine 2021-22 campaign in which the club came so close to securing a remarkable quadruple.
Ibrahima Konate has emerged as Virgil van Dijk’s regular centre-back partner although he has also suffered his fair share of injuries.

Matip’s form has declined in recent months and this was evident in a series of wretched performances earlier in the year including in the 3-0 loss to Wolves, in which he scored an own goal.
Matip started 31 Premier League games last season among an impressive 43 appearances in all competitions.
But he has made Klopp’s starting XI for just nine league games this term among 18 appearances in total.
Matip has won every major trophy on offer at Liverpool since joining the club on a free transfer from Schalke in the summer of 2016.
He has made 184 appearances for the club in total and is well regarded among supporters who have warmed to his eccentricities as well as consistently high level performances.
