Sources: Liverpool plotting to sign Levi Colwill - scouts seriously impressed

Liverpool are plotting a move to sign Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 20-year-old has spent the current season out on loan at Brighton, where he has attracted attention through his impressive performances for the Seagulls.

The Reds are in the market for a centre-back this summer and have highlighted Colwill as a perfect profile who could spend his long-term future at Anfield.

Liverpool have also shown interest in centre-back Evan Ndicka, with Football Insider sources revealing on Friday (21 April) that the Reds are prepared to enter a two-horse race for the 23-year-old’s signature.

Tottenham and Man City are prepared to rival Liverpool for Colwill’s signature, with both Premier League giants also monitoring his availability this summer.

It is understood that Liverpool have scouted Colwill multiple times this season, with scouts returning with very positive reviews of the defender.

Colwill worked his through the Chelsea academy and was introduced to the first team in 2021 after impressing in the club’s youth teams.

He spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Championship side Huddersfield and caught the attention of Brighton, who then requested to have Colwill on loan this season.

Colwill has made 15 appearances across all competitions for the south coast club and could feature in their FA Cup semi-final clash against Man United on Sunday afternoon.

Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi is a huge fan of the young defender, and claimed Colwill will “be a very important player for the end of the season,” after he returned from a torn muscle injury.
