A summer exit for Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara cannot be ruled out, sources have told Football Insider.

However, it is believed Thiago could still be allowed to quit Anfield this summer if the circumstances are right.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the midfielder's age and injury problems mean Liverpool are receptive to letting him leave the club.

The finances on offer from Saudi Arabian clubs, who are interested in Thiago's services, could prove too good to turn down for the Reds.

However, Liverpool would first need to add new midfielders to their squad as part of their much-anticipated rebuild.

The giants had already been left short in midfield by the departures of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner at the end of their respective contracts.

Thiago racked up 28 appearances across all competitions last term – but started in just 21 of those outings.

The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona ace has struggled for fitness since arriving at Anfield in 2020.

His contract is set to expire in under 12 months' time.

It is believed Thiago is subject of interest from Barcelona and clubs from the free-spending Saudi Pro League.
