Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister is "very keen" on joining Liverpool in the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

There is an ongoing dialogue between the Merseysiders' recruitment team and the 24-year-old's camp ahead of a possible big-money transfer.

Talks will continue next week as a deal edges closer.

It is believed that Liverpool want to secure an agreement soon and will prefer to wrap up all aspects of the move prior to the summer transfer window opening next month.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp wants Mac Allister signed in time for the club's return for pre-season action.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Klopp regards the World Cup winner as an "amazing" player who can slot instantly into his starting eleven.

Man City and Man United have also been credited with an interest in the Brighton star.

Mac Allister has notched 11 goals and two assists in 34 appearances across all competitions this season - including a last-gasp winner against Man United on Thursday (4 May).

The Argentina international is expected to be a key part of a midfield rebuild at Liverpool as Klopp's side look to bounce back from a dismal 2022-23 campaign.

Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all set to leave Anfield when their current contracts expire this summer.

Liverpool

Liverpool are now well-placed to secure Europa League qualification after recording five straight Premier League wins.

They face ninth-place Brentford on Saturday (6 May).
