Sources: Major comeback update on West Brom star O’Shea

Dara O’Shea is set to hand West Brom a major boost by making his comeback in January, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

This site first broke the news on 5 September that O’Shea was facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a fractured ankle sustained on international duty.

That was confirmed by the Championship club two days later, with the club explaining O’Shea would be out for up to six months.

A West Brom source has now told Football Insider that O’Shea is making excellent progress in his recovery from injury and is on course for a turn-of-the-year return.

The 22-year-old, who also suffered ankle ligament damage, is a key defender in the Baggies team targeting instant promotion.

He hadn’t missed a minute of league football until he picked up his injury.

The Baggies went unbeaten in these games, winning four from five and going second in the Championship.

Impressively, O’Shea also bagged two goals for himself as Valerian Ismael’s side dominated from set-pieces.

However, Albion have faltered since then and now lie third.

They have also suffered another injury blow with the club announcing on 8 November that Kean Bryan won’t play again this season.

Ironically, Bryan was signed on a free transfer to provide more depth in the defence.

The former Sheffield United man only has 48 league minutes to his name as an Albion player but he provided much-needed backup for Ismael.

West Brom sit six points away from the Championship’s automatic promotion spots.

The Baggies are next in action when they travel to Huddersfield after the international break.
