Sources: Major update on Ange Postecoglou potentially quitting Celtic for Tottenham after update today

Celtic are confident Ange Postecoglou will not quit mid-season to join Tottenham or any other Premier League club, sources have told Football Insider.

The Australian has been linked with the Spurs post following Antonio Conte’s incendiary Saturday evening rant that throws his future up in the air.

Tottenham are holding internal talks on Monday about whether Conte should depart during the international break.

But Celtic do not expect to lose Postecoglou at this stage of the season and are convinced he will remain for the rest of the campaign.

There has been fear among the Hoops fan base that the immensely popular manager could depart in the same way that Brendan Rodgers up and left for Leicester City mid-campaign.

Postecoglou is on a rolling one-year contract at Celtic and is well on course to steering the club to an historic treble.

It’s not the first time the Aussie has been linked with a move to the English top flight.

The Hoops boss was heavily linked with the vacant Leeds United job last month before they appointed Javi Gracia to replace Jesse Marsch.

But Postecoglou has reassured Hoops fans that he plans on staying at the club for the long haul.

As quoted by The Times after his side won the Viaplay Cup last month (28 February), Postecoglou said people will be “surprised” by how long he stay in Glasgow.

The 57-year-old insisted he “couldn’t be happier” at Parkhead but insisted he will “listen” when there is talk about his future.

Celtic are currently nine points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table and are in the Scottish Cup semi-final where they face Rangers next month.

In other news, ex-Celtic midfielder could quit Man City for French club.
