Sources: Major update on Declan Rice future at West Ham as ‘mega’ offer readied after ‘head turned’
West Ham are preparing to offer Declan Rice a blockbuster contract to keep him sweet for another year, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The 22-year-old has already knocked back two contract offers from the Hammers to leave his long-term future in major doubt.
A West Ham source has told Football Insider the club have not given up hope of tying their prize asset down beyond his current agreement’s expiration in 2024.
But Irons chiefs are aware that Rice has had his “head turned” at the England camp during the Euros.
The Londoners will up their previous offer with a “mega” package, the source explained, as they look to fend off interest in their academy product and keep him happy.
Rice is the subject of strong interest from Chelsea and is also on the radar of Manchester United.

Former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was a big admirer of the centre-midfielder and made numerous attempts to lure him to Stamford Bridge last summer.
The London club have retained their interest in Rice despite the sacking of Lampard and the appointment of Thomas Tuchel.
Rice has strong ties to Chelsea.
He spent eight years in their academy and is also very close friends with Mason Mount.
The Hammers have made moves to clear room on their wage bill in recent weeks.
As revealed by Football Insider (17th July), the Irons are in talks with Galatasaray over the potential £4million sale of Andriy Yarmolenko, while Felipe Anderson has completed a return to Lazio.
It is understood the pair were two of the top earners at the London Stadium and their exits will allow the club to offer Rice a lucrative deal.
