Sources: Major update on Liverpool interest in Declan Rice as Klopp stance revealed

Liverpool are not expected to join the race to sign Declan Rice even though Jurgen Klopp is a huge admirer of him, Football Insider understands.

The future of the Irons star man is the subject of intense speculation after he knocked back new contract offers from the club.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Man City, Man United and Chelsea are all interested in luring Rice from West Ham.

But Liverpool are not expected to battle their rivals for the 23-year-old as the cost of the deal in transfer fee and wages is beyond what owners Fenway Sports Group would allow.

Nevertheless, Klopp is a big fan of Rice and Liverpool are also likely to be in the market for a new central midfielder this summer.

He has two years on his Irons contract at the end of the season.

West Ham are reluctant to let the midfielder depart this summer.

They will demand a big-money fee from any suitors.

As revealed by Football Insider on Thursday (24 March), David Moyes is planning to keep Rice for next season.

However, he has also made signing a new international calibre midfielder a top priority.

Most of the Premier League’s elite are in the market for a new ball-winner in midfield ahead of the summer.

Rice has emerged as one of the best in the position over the past three years.

He has played 159 times in the Premier League and has 27 England caps under his belt.

Liverpool already have the likes of Thiago, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in central midfield.
