Sources: Man City block two stars signing for giants
Man City are desperate to not lose both Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva in one transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Both midfield stars have been linked with moves away from the Etihad Stadium in recent seasons, but Pep Guardiola values both very highly and is pushing to keep hold of them.
Gundogan is out of contract in the summer, and Barcelona remain in contact with the midfielder about a free transfer this summer.
Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (14 April) that Gundogan is now expected to join Barcelona on a free transfer at the end of the season
City have offered Gundogan a new contract to stay in Manchester, but it is understood that the City captain has made his mind up on a move to the Catalan club.
The Spanish giants have also shown an interest in Silva in recent seasons, with this site’s sources revealing in February that Silva is open to the idea of joining Barcelona.

But the La Liga leaders are struggling financially and City have placed a £70million price tag on Silva to fend off any bids.
Barcelona’s pursuit of Silva has now slowed significantly and a summer move is considered impossible by both parties.
Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are also both monitoring the situation of Gundogan and Silva, but trail Barcelona – who have already made contact with Gundogan.
Both midfielders remain key figures in Guardiola’s team this season, with Gundogan tallying 40 appearances this campaign and Silva racking up 43 across all competitions.
