Man City could accept an offer of around £15million for Burnley target James Trafford this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Kompany watched Trafford in action for loan club Bolton during their playoff semi-final draw against Barnsley on Saturday (13 May).

A well-placed Burnley source has told Football Insider that the Clarets boss believes Trafford could be an excellent addition to his squad for their return to the Premier League next season.

Kompany has identified the England Under-21 international as a "star in the making", one source said.

It is believed that Burnley will explore all potential options as they look to land Trafford, including permanent and loan deals.

A fee of £15million would be similar to the reported club-record outlay the Clarets paid for striker Chris Wood in August 2017.

Man City let another goalkeeper starlet depart for a similar price last summer (2022) - with Gavin Bazunu joining Southampton in a deal which also includes a buy-back clause following his successful Portsmouth loan.

Trafford has followed in the footsteps of Bazunu this season by shining in League One with Bolton.

The youngster has been one of the best goalkeepers in the third tier this season and also helped The Trotters win the EFL Trophy.

He has made 51 appearances across all competitions this term, conceding 37 goals and keeping 26 clean sheets.

Man City

Trafford is yet to play a senior game for Man City, but could find the first-team pathway open at Turf Moor.

The other goalkeepers on Burnley's books at present are Arijanet Muric and Bailey Peacock-Farrell.
