Man United are laying the groundwork for a mega-money swoop for Royal Antwerp sensation Arthur Vermeeren, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that the Premier League giants are "all over" the Belgian 18-year-old and are regularly in contact with his camp ahead of a potential summer move.

It is believed that Antwerp want £25million up front for the central midfielder, but the total fee could rise to £50m if performance-related add-ons are met.

Vermeeren is attracting attention from a host of elite European clubs following his standout performances in the Belgian top flight and the Champions League.

He has started every single game for Antwerp in all competitions this season, notching two goals and six assists, including the opening strike in their 3-2 Champions League win over Barcelona.

The 2005-born ace was also a key player in the second half of last season for Antwerp, who secured their first top-flight title in 66 years.

Since his debut in August 2022, he has made 65 appearances in all competitions and bagged 3 goals and eight assists.

Man United and Antwerp struck up a partnership during the reign of Sir Alex Ferguson, who loaned 33 players to the Great Old between 1998 and 2013 including Tom Heaton, John O'Shea and Jonny Evans.

Vermeeren had been a regular in Belgiam's youth sides before making his senior debut in October 2023 as a late substitute in their 3-2 win against Austria in a European Championships qualifier.

Man United sit eighth in the Premier League table following their 2-1 loss to Nottingham Forest before the new year and next welcome Tottenham to Old Trafford on Sunday (14 January).
