Sources: Man United have summer transfer budget of just £50m
Man United have a summer transfer budget of just £50million in what will be seen as bombshell news by supporters, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The new manager Erik ten Tag has been told by the club hierarchy that he can completely overhaul a squad that has endured a dismal season.
But mass changes at Old Trafford will need to be driven predominantly by player sales.
A United source has told Football Insider that Ten Hag has been promised he will be in overall charge of the club’s transfer policy and will have the final say over who leaves and comes in.
However, the new manager will have to operate within strict financial parameters laid out by the board.
The £50m budget will be regarded as a huge disappointment by supporters excited about the possibility of the most active transfer window in many years to reshape a failing team.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has also made clear with his increasingly outspoken comments that changes must be drastic and far-reaching.
For that now to take place, Ten Hag must raise money through some big-money sales.
That could mean players previously thought to be key to the team’s future could now be put up for sale.
The Premier League giants did not sign any players in January after, as revealed by this site last December, Rangnick know he could only make loan signings.
United recruited three A-list stars last summer led by the headline arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo as well as Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.
