Sources: Man United in pole position to sign Jeremie Frimpong in '£40m' deal
Man United lead the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Red Devils are in the market for a new right-back and have made the 22-year-old Bundesliga star their first-choice target for that position.
Erik ten Hag highlighted the right-back area as a problem position for United since his arrival at Old Trafford, with neither Aaron Wan-Bissaka nor Diogo Dalot deemed good enough to be regular starters.
Frimpong has a contract at Leverkusen until 2025, but the German club have accepted that he is likely to leave this summer amid big interest across Europe.
It is understood that Leverkusen have placed a £40-50million price tag on Frimpong this summer.
Bayern Munich and Barcelona are also interested in the Netherlands international, but it is United who are favourites to secure his signature this summer.

Frimpong has been in great form under Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso this season, scoring eight and assisting nine in 36 appearances across all competitions.
Frimpong’s running stats have also caught the eye this season, with the youngster ranking second in the Bundesliga for sprints made at 654 while placing fourth across the league for top speed recorded (36km/h).
Much like Jadon Sancho, Frimpong started his career in the Man City academy, but ended up leaving for Celtic and then Germany in order to gain more experience and game time during the early years of his career.
