Sources: Man United, Man City and Chelsea in race to sign Le Havre sensation Arouna Sangante
Man United, Man City and Chelsea have set their sights on signing Le Havre sensation Arouna Sangante, sources have told Football Insider.
The Senegal-born central defender, 21, is one of the hottest properties in French football and is firmly on the radar of the Premier League elite.
His commanding performances have brought him onto the radar of United, City and Chelsea as well as European giants AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund.
Le Havre are aware of the growing interest in Sangante and club owner Vincent Volpe has given an exclusive mandate to FIFA agent Willie McKay to sell the player in the January transfer window.
In 10 Ligue 1 appearances so far this season, Sangante has helped his side keep five clean sheets – including in draws against Monaco, Lens and Lyon.
He is the captain at Le Havre and is the youngest skipper in the French top flight.
Sangante signed his last contract extension in July, pledging his future to the club until June 2026.
The 21-year-old has already racked up 81 appearances in senior football despite his tender age and made his full breakthrough in the 2021-22 campaign.
He made 35 appearances in Ligue 2 last term as Le Havre were promoted back to the top tier, notching three goals and two assists.
Sangante was named in the second tier’s team of the season for his efforts in the 2022-23 campaign.
Football Insider revealed last month (24 October) that Man United have abandoned huge-money deals for centre-backs Goncalo Inacio and Jean-Clair Todibo ahead of January – but still want a centre-back.
Injuries to the likes of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have hit Erik ten Hag’s side hard this season.
Meanwhile, Man City and Chelsea are keen to purchase the best young talent across Europe – and Sangante fits the bill as he looks to make the next step in his development.
