Sources: Man United ready to accept Anthony Martial offer

Man United are happy to let Anthony Martial leave the club this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed the Red Devils will hold out for the right fee for the 27-year-old – who is already in-demand as the 2022-23 campaign draws to a close.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that all parties consider a “parting of the ways” to be for the best.

This decision comes after Martial was given another chance to prove his worth in the 2022-23 campaign.

However, the France international managed just nine goals across 29 games in all competitions – with a combination of poor form and injury troubles leaving Old Trafford chiefs “frustrated”, sources say.

Martial has been sidelined by various injuries this term – including problems with his hip, hamstring, Achilles and back.

The former Monaco star, who cost a reported £36million in 2015, has just over 12 months remaining on his contract.

He has scored 88 goals in 298 appearances for Man United since joining – recording a best-ever season tally of 23 goals in the 2019-20 campaign.

According to FBRef, Martial earns wage of a £250,000-a-week at Old Trafford.

Manager Erik ten Hag has already confirmed he is planning to add another goalscorer for the 2023-24 season – with 30-goal Marcus Rashford the source of most of Man United’s strikes this term.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (30 May) that Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund, 20, features highly on the striker wanted list at Man United – and could be an alternative to Harry Kane or Victor Osimhen.

Any new arrival would push Martial even further down the pecking order.

The Red Devils’ 2022-23 campaign will end with the FA Cup final against rivals Man City on Saturday (3 June).

In other news, Man United now confident they will beat Liverpool to summer deal.
