Man United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop has agreed a deal in principle to join Wycombe Wanderers, sources have told Football Insider.

Bishop is set to join the League One side on loan once he returns from United’s pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia.

Bishop, 22, spent last season on loan at Mansfield Town and United feel the goalkeeper would benefit from a new temporary move to continue his development.

Wycombe are short of goalkeeping options after David Stockdale and number two Adam Przybek left Adams Park earlier this summer.

Bishop was an unused substitute for Man United's 4-1 win over Melbourne Victory on Friday (15 July).

He is yet to make a senior appearance for the Old Trafford club since signing in January 2020 and spent the 2021-22 campaign on loan at League Two side Mansfield.

The shot-stopper racked up 53 appearances - keeping 16 clean sheets as the Stags fell in the play-off final against Port Vale.

Bishop is now set to make the step up to the third tier regardless - a division in which he has already played 31 times with boyhood club Southend.

The 22-year-old, who was capped once at Under-20 level by England, is contracted until June 2023 at Old Trafford - but the club hold an option for a further year.

Dean Henderson has already departed on loan to Nottingham Forest, while young goalkeeper Matej Kovar is also expected to leave the club on loan for League One this summer.

Wycombe's only senior goalkeeper at present is Tyla Dickinson - who is yet to make his bow in the EFL.

The Chairboys will be targeting another promotion push this season after losing to Sunderland in the League One play-off final in May.
