Millwall have joined Middlesbrough in the hunt to sign QPR goalkeeper Joe Lumley, Football Insider understands.

However, a recruitment source has told Football Insider Millwall have entered the race for the shot-stopper's capture.

It is understood QPR remain in talks with Lumley over a new contract at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.

However, the academy graduate knows he has suitors waiting in the wings should he decide to leave on a free.

With Seny Diang very much Mark Warburton's first-choice keeper, Lumley played just five times in the Championship this season.

He joined both Gillingham and Doncaster Rovers on emergency loans between October and December.

The shot-stopper played twice for the Gills and nine times for Rovers before returning to London for the second half of the season.

He started on the bench for 15 consecutive games before being handed a chance in the 3-0 win over Coventry.

Despite his clean sheet, he dropped back among the substitutes for another four games.

However, Diang's red card against Middlesbrough handed Lumley another start for the 1-0 win over Swansea.

In total, the Harlow-born keeper has 77 Championship appearances under his belt to date.

His potential availability has drawn attention from Millwall, who are in the market for competition and cover for Bartosz Bialkowski.

The Poland international, 33, played every minute of the Lions' Championship campaign this term.

Manager Gary Rowett has confirmed second-choice keeper Frank Fielding will leave when his contract expires this summer.
