Sources: MK Dons agree to sign Cardiff City star Watters

MK Dons have agreed to sign Cardiff City striker Max Watters, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The League One club have moved for the former Crawley forward as they look to strengthen their attack.

A Cardiff source has told Football Insider that the club have given the green light for Watters to spend next season on loan at MK Dons.

The deal has been finalised and is expected to be announced in the next 24 hours.

Watters, 22, joined Cardiff in January after a prolific spell at Crawley Town.

The striker scored 13 league goals in 15 games for Crawley in the first half of the season.

His form saw him named as December’s League Two player of the month.

He only made three appearances for his new side following his move and failed to find the net.

Watters turned professional with Doncaster in 2018 but he only made six appearances for the club.

Four loans followed over Watters’ two-year spell at the Keep Moat Stadium before he was released.

Crawley then signed Watters and within six months he was gone after he caught the eye with his prolific form.

Watters finished his Crawley career with a record of 16 goals in 19 games in all competitions.

MK Dons finished 13th in League One last season which was an improvement on the previous season’s 19th placed finish.

Watters will be looking to rediscover the prolific form he found at Crawley as he drops down a division.
