Sources: Ligue 1 club in hunt to sign Rangers star Glen Kamara this summer

Nantes are still keen on signing Rangers star Glen Kamara this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The French side attempted a deal for Kamara last summer but he stayed at Ibrox where he has struggled for game time.

Light Blues boss Michael Beale has previously stated that the 27-year-old will be a “big player” for his side moving forward and his resolve is set to be tested this summer when Nantes will look to complete a deal for the midfielder.

The Finland international was linked with a Rangers exit during the January window with Nantes and Italian side Salernitana believed to have been interested.

Nantes are currently 14th in Ligue 1 and are in the semi-final of the French Cup where they face Lyon at the weekend (5 April).

The side are seven points clear of the relegation zone as the end of the season nears.

Kamara will have two years left on his current contract in the summer after signing an extension in 2021.

The midfielder joined Ibrox from Dundee in 2019 for a deal worth around £50,000.

Kamara has struggled for game time this season and fell out of favour under previous manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst and suffered an ankle injury back in October which further limited his minutes.

He has enjoyed more game time under new boss Michael Beale and has started 11 games since his arrival in the winter.

Kamara has made 31 appearances for the Gers across all competitions this season and has scored one goal and provided one assist in those outings.
