Sources: Newcastle in advanced talks to sign Dan Burn for £10m
Newcastle United are in advanced talks to sign Brighton defender Dan Burn for £10million, Football Insider understands.
This site revealed earlier on Wednesday that the north-east giants have turned their attention to the 6ft 7in Brighton giant to reinforce their defence.
Now a Newcastle source has told Football Insider that they are making progress in a deal for the centre-back ahead of the deadline.
Negotiations have progressed in the last hours and there is growing confidence of reaching an agreement.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe gave the move the green light as he looks to add a left-sided centre-back to his ranks this month.
The Magpies identified Burn as a proven Premier League performer who could be lured away from the south coast this month.

The Brighton defender has 18 months left on his contract with the Seagulls.
Notably, he is a boyhood Newcastle fan, having been born in the north east town of Blyth.
Burn spent time among Newcastle’s youth coaching scheme but was released by the Magpies as an 11-year-old.
He has since had spells at Darlington, Fulham, Wigan and current club Brighton.
The colossal centre-back has established himself as a mainstay for the Seagulls since joining in Janaury 2019.
Burn has played 85 times for the south coast outfit to date, with 83 Premier League appearances to his name.
Newcastle boss Howe has been in the market for a new centre-back all month.
He currently has Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar, Ciaran Clark and Federico Fernandez as his senior options.
Emil Krafth and Paul Dummett have also been used as makeshift centre-backs during their time at St James’ Park.
