Sources: Newcastle open talks over Dominik Szoboszlai deal

Newcastle United have opened talks over a deal for RB Leipzig’s Dominik Szoboszlai, sources have told Football Insider.

Talks between the sides are ongoing with Newcastle keen to bring the midfielder to St James’ Park this summer.

The 22-year-old’s contract at Leipzig runs until 2026 and includes a €70million (£60.4m) release clause.

The Bundesliga side are set to lose Christopher Nkunku this summer which could open the door for a big window for the club.

Szoboszlai made 45 appearances for Leipzig across all competitions this season, scoring nine goals and providing 13 assists in those outings.

According to The Telegraph (23 May), Newcastle are preparing for a big summer window after securing Champions League football for the 2023-24 campaign.
