Newcastle United are ready to tell striker Joselu to find a new club this summer, Football Insider understands.

The Spaniard, 29, has been a key member of the squad during the last two seasons until he was frozen out at the end of February.

A Newcastle source has told Football Insider that Rafael Benitez will urge the club to listen to offers for Joselu and it is almost certain he will depart in the forthcoming window.

The former Celta Vigo, Frankfurt and Hoffenheim forward was Newcastle’s first choice centre-forward last season after signing for £5.5million from Stoke City in the summer of 2017.

He made 32 appearances, including 30 in the Premier League, and scored four goals, and began this campaign as the lead spearhead until Salomon Rondon established himself as the undisputed number one.

Joselu has subsequently dropped down the pecking order and could have left during the January window.

He stayed on but has not started a league game since the Boxing Day thrashing by Liverpool and has failed to even make the matchday squad for the last seven fixtures.
