Sources: Newcastle set for extensions blizzard as Bruno Guimaraes news revealed
Newcastle are ready to tie down some of their best players to new deals in order to secure their futures at the club, sources have told Football Insider.
Callum Wilson has recently penned an extension, while midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is on the verge of signing a bumper new contract at St James’ Park.
It is believed that the Magpies are planning multiple other deals in the coming weeks.
Manager Eddie Howe is keen to keep the spine of his squad at Newcastle as he looks to build on the successes of last season.
Guimaraes only joined in January 2022 but has seen his value skyrocket after taking the Premier League by storm since arriving from Lyon.
The 25-year-old has started all seven games so far this season, notching one goal and one assist.
Meanwhile, prolific striker Wilson has signed a deal running until June 2025 – a one-year extension on his previous terms sheet.
The England international, 31, has already scored four in seven this term after hitting 18 league goals in the 2022-23 campaign.
Defender Dan Burn also sealed a one-year extension to his contract in the summer after triggering an appearance-based clause in his old deal last season.
Captain Kieran Trippier also signed a 12-month extension in January, meaning he is under contract at St James’ Park until June 2025.
Newcastle thumped Sheffield United 8-0 on Sunday (24 September) to go eighth in the Premier League table.
They also drew 0-0 away from home against AC Milan in the Champions League last week.
