Sources: Nottingham Forest, Derby County and Norwich race to sign Brighton star Walton after price slashed
Brighton are willing to let Norwich City and Nottingham Forest target Christian Walton move after slashing their asking price, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The Seagulls had priced the goalkeeper, 25, out of a transfer earlier in the window.
But a Brighton source has told Football Insider the club have relented on their price demands and have now lowered the fee.
They would prefer a permanent sale to a loan transfer after multiple enquiries over a temporary deal.
There has been interest this summer in Walton from Norwich, Forest, Swansea City, Bournemouth, Derby County and Luton Town.
Walton, capped once for England U21s, is out of contract at the American Express Community Stadium next summer.
The shot-stopper played every match on loan for Championship side Blackburn Rovers in the 2019-20 season, as the Lancashire side finished 11th.
His Rovers move was the latest of seven loan spells away from the Seagulls.
Walton remained on the South Coast last season as Mat Ryan moved to Arsenal in January.
After stepping up to the backup berth, Walton made two FA Cup appearances.
The goalkeeper is proven at Championship level, making 83 appearances for Brighton, Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers.
Walton has now lost the reserve goalkeeper spot at Brighton, with manager Graham Potter opting to include Jason Steele on the bench for top-flight fixtures so far this season.
Interested party Nottingham Forest have endured a terrible start to their campaign, losing all four of their Championship fixtures.
Walton would become Chris Hughton’s fifth summer signing.
The under-pressure manager has already added James Garner, Philip Zinckernagel, Jordi Osei-Tutu and Ethan Horvath during this window.
In other news, Danny Mills has suggested this highly-rated Championship goalkeeper will remain in the division.
